Nagano Summer ALT Cup 2007
Saturday June 2nd 2007
Saitama Jets 2nds 2 v 0 Nagano Jets
The Jets sent two teams to this tournment - the 2nds captained by John Rayner and the 3rds captained by Mark Eite. The 2nds had to play straight off the bus, and put in a terrible performance in the first game, with donkeyesque mistakes happening all over the pitch. However we still managed to run out two nil winners thanks to goals by Nate Gildart from Sasaki, and then Sasaki himself from Chris Piper's low byline cross.
Saitama Jets 2nds 3 v 0 Gunma Jets
A much better performance saw the Jets crush a poor Gunma team 3-0 with Frasier Gould scoring a stunning hatrick - a "steal" off Nate, a bullet header from Tomo's corner, and and skillful, swift dribble and cool finish. Magic! He then celebrated by sawing Nate in half - a new trick!!
Fraser's Hatrick & Sawtrick
Saitama Jets 2nds 2 v 2 Shonai Knights
A close fought game which ebbed and flowed. Shonai took the lead, the Jets equalized immediately with a lovely move which saw some fine one-twos between Ryan Loren, Chris Piper and scorer Nate Gildart. Then Rayner hit a volleyed shot which was cleared off the line and the ref gave a very harsh hanball against the Shonai defender. Nate slotted home the kick. Shonai equalized at the death to send the game to penalties. John Rayner, Sasaki, and Nate Gildart all scored as Fraser pulled off his first keeping shootout win.
Saitama Jets 2nds 1 v 0 Niigata Jets
A great win against the old enemy - the Jets fought hard to overcome a battling Niigata team. In the end it took this goal from Chris Piper and a valiant rearguard action to give Saitama the win.

Saitama Jets 2nds 0 v 1 Shonai Knights
A lacklustre performance saw the Jets 2nds crash out at the QF stage. Shonai's pacey forward outpaced Masato and Turner on the counter and Matt T hacked him around the edge of the area. The penalty was slotted home and despite constant pressure in the 2nd half, the Jets couldn't claim an equalizer.
Saitama Jets 3rds 1 - 0 Real Osaka (Semi-Final)
Midway through the first half Rob chased down a ball that the centre-half was trying to allow to run out for a goal kick, robbed him and squared for Colin to slide home from six yards, 1-0.  The only other incident of note was this blistering freekick by Rob Keating:
Rob's Freekick
Saitama Jets 3rds 1 v 1 British Embassy (FINAL)
(Embassy won 2-1 on pks)
Ryan Botta was the centre of attention in the first few minutes, conceding and then winning a penalty. Unfortunately, the Embassy scored theirs, while Yasu blasted the Jets on over the bar. A hard-fought game (Rob) then petered out to some extent until Mikey, dressed in a panda costume "scored" from a corner in the dying minutes to send the game to a penalty shootout. Yet again the Jets blew their kicks to leave the Embassy celebrating victory.
